4 Things you should consider when picking curtains for your rooms

The curtain is not just a piece of cloth that is used to block the light and curious eyes out and keep privacy at night. Rather, Curtains become an essential item of interior design, as they play their part in the overall aesthetics of a certain room, and add charm to the structure of your home in general.

Sometimes, a wrong choice of curtains may leave an extremely bad effect and give negative energy to the whole ambiance of your home.

DDW knows how overwhelming it could be to pick the right curtains, that suit your home style and fit the rest of your interior items.

Color, fabric, length, and lining all need to be evaluated when selecting the best curtains for a room.

To make things easier, we’ve made a list of 4 things you should put in mind when picking your curtains….

  • Pick out the Right Fabric
  • Be careful while choosing colors
  • Select the ideal length
  • Consider Prints and Pattern

Let’s talk about them more….

-Pick the Right Fabric

The material has a key role in the appearance of the curtains and consequently affects the whole ambiance of the room.

plenty of options are available to choose from, from sheer to light cotton, to heavy velvet.

but two factors should be considered while picking the fabrics:

  • The amount of natural light you want to bring into the room
  • The style of your room. Heavier fabrics, for example, fit more conventional rooms, while sheer fabrics work best for more modern rooms.
  • Be Careful While Choosing Colors

The choice of color can energize your home style or make it dull and dark. So the color you choose for your curtain should harmonize with the rest of the furnishings. For a visually appealing look, you should choose colors that match the tone of the walls, or if you want the colors of your curtains to pop up, pick a hue that contrasts with the furniture and walls.

  • Select The Ideal Length

Curtains that fall exactly to the floor level are a trend these days. A few inches longer can also give a more sophisticated look. while, if you have kids you better choose  curtains that are a couple of inches above the floor. You can give your room a classic touch by having the curtains end at the sill of the window. I think this choice will be perfect for your living room and kitchen.

  • Consider  Prints and Patterns

Patterned curtains fit solid-color furniture well. If a room in your house lacks a proper color pattern and it is all of the same hues, patterned curtains would be an ideal choice.

Pick tiny, neutral prints that add a touch of fun to your homes, such as paisley or dots. Leaf-printed, floral, rosy and translucent curtains may be a good choice.

You can also go for blackout curtains if you want to block light from entering your room or reduce unwanted street noises.

  • Consider the lighting first
  • Add plants & Flowers
  • Warm-up your room with rugs
  • curtains for warmth & privacy

  Let’s talk with more details…

  • Start with lighting

There’s nothing more important than good lighting to create a welcoming place. It’s preferred to avoid harsh single neon tubes, and replace them with yellow small bulbs that will add more warmth and don’t forget o add some table and floor lamps with some candles “preferably scented !” this will make a huge difference and will give a feeling of warmth to the whole home ambiance. Or you can drop string lights here and there in the living room over a painting hung on the wall or in the bedroom on the headboard slat of your bed.

  • Add plants and flower

Plants and any other living elements will contribute to the cozy sensation.

“Unless these elements are insects”.

In addition to the sense of nature, you’ll have in your room. There is another wonderful side that will add an amazing touch to your place which is plants vessels and pots that you will accessorize your plants with, which will make a nice addition to your place.

  • Warm-up your rooms with rugs

When it comes to making your home feel warm and inviting, a few well-placed rugs can work wonders. They’ll liven up your room with color and texture, and they’ll be soft underfoot, It will no doubt come in handy when you nestle those frozen toes into the soft fabric on a cold day.

  • Thick curtains for warmth and privacy

Thick curtains are a great way to keep the heat in and the cold that come in from the windows out. Besides, a thick curtain makes a room look cozier as it can add color and design to a traditional boring-looking area. Curtains don’t just have to be used for windows, though. Adding a curtain in front of doors to the outside helps to add another layer of protection and makes your home even cozier!

3 Types of Solid Floor & How To Maintain Them

For long-lasting flooring and a comfortable, beautiful, and elegant home, maintenance is key. Depending on the type of flooring, you may need to follow some specific rules to keep these floors in tip-top condition. At Dubai Décor World, we don’t just want your home to look good, we want it to shine!

Here’s a sneak peek at the top floor coverings with some instructions and advice to keep them last a lifetime.

Hardwood

Although This type is luxurious and durable, it is also sensitive to scratching or damaging. If you want to avoid the appearance of damaged hardwood, be sure to vacuum.

Be sure to vacuum with a smooth attachment regularly to avoid the accumulation of particles such as tiny rocks that can scratch the wood surface.

It’s highly recommended to avoid using vacuums with rotary brush heads.

Make sure to mop after vacuuming or you’ll end up scrubbing those scratchy particles all over your floor.

Any spillages should be wiped up right away, so they can’t be absorbed into the wood.

Vinyl

In terms of maintenance, vinyl is not that different from hardwood.

A similar vacuum-and-mop approach can be used here, however, with vinyl, you don’t have to worry as much about scratches from small particles.

Although vinyl is built to resist scratches, it’s still a good idea to vacuum regularly just to be safe.

One main difference between vinyl and hardwood is that vinyl should never be waxed, as this can leave a white sticky layer on your floor

Stone

Stone is the weirdest item on this list because despite its famous toughness it’s quite sensitive to certain cleaning products.

Whatever acidic you use on your stone floor, whether it’s marble, granite, slate, or any of the other common stone floor materials, will leave a permanent stain.

Because stone is porous, it requires a protective coating to prevent stains from being absorbed easily.

Otherwise, stone floors should be vacuumed with non-rotating brush heads and mopped with soap and water to keep them spotless

Dubai Décor World will help you install a wide range of quality flooring materials, including carpet, cork, hardwood, laminate, and more! In addition to maintaining it and make sure to keep your floor look perfect. Contact us now to get the home you dream of

  • Antique artwork  with modern furniture set

Starting with a vintage or antique painting can’t be a wrong shot,  find the pieces you like at a flea market. Or create your own collection: pick three or five old portraits or landscapes that really appeal to you.

Choose a central location to hang artwork to create an eye-catching style that attracts viewers.

It’s a really great way to freshen up your home décor and strike a balance between old and new.

  • Play with lighting
One of the easiest ways to combine decorating styles is to use lighting! To add aesthetic appeal, place a vintage lamp on a modern table. Antique sconces or Edison bulbs can be used to add drama and warmth to your place. To add some variety, hang a chandelier in a coastal-style bathroom, a Scandinavian-style nursery, or a bohemian-style bedroom.
  • Consider  Antique Seating in the Kitchen
If you have a modern kitchen, antique seating can help give the space a vintage feel. Use vintage stools next to a granite, cement, or marble countertop to create an eye-catching contrast. Vintage seating can easily add character to your kitchen without spoiling the space, even if your shelving and appliances are ultra-modern.
  • Add vintage rugs
If you’re still not sure how to combine antique and modern styles, a vintage rug is an easy way to start. In an otherwise modern space, use a Persian rug to anchor an antique chest.
